 The key to success in any fitness program is that it must involve the continuous communication between both the client and the trainer. It must have a day-in-day-out approach and any activity or involvement should not be left ignored. Creating a new fitness-based life is a behavorial change and with practice and consistency it can be achieved. 

Having a great and effective personal trainer is going to not only teach during the sessions, but also serve as a mentor and a coach during non-training hours. Regular communication between the client and the trainer is one of the best ways to keep a client motivated. 

For example, let's say I have a client who I scheduled to do a seperate workout on one of the days that we don't train together. I would give a copy of this workout to my client with the exercises listed. I could then simply say, "Okay, just do this over the weekend". On the other hand, I make sure my clients complete the workout by having them keep a log and either emailing it to me or showing me their printed log at the next workout session. This may at first appear to be similiar to the concept of "homework" to some, but then again, accountability is a must in order to see any serious long-term results. Remember, you are practicing this new and exciting fitness lifestyle to eventually in hopes be able to hold yourself accountable for the rest of your life.


I make sure that I pay special attention to each client, regarding their goals, their strengths, their weeknesses, their struggles, and must importantly, their individuality. I push my clients hard enough out of their comfort zone, but not to the point of where they don't find exercise enjoyable. I keep a positive atmosphere and mentality in my practice to all of my clients. And measure success in every single category that relates to fitness, such as: weight, body fat %, inches, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, functionally, and well-being.
